I subscribed to GlossyBox.com
In September I subscribed to my first Beauty Box subscription. I wanted to try really high end skin care products, but didn't want to spend a ton on money on products. Especially if I was only going to find out that it was all hype! Check out what came in my first Glossy Box. Is Glossy Box worth the Monthly Fee?
The Glossy Box claim is that every month, you will receive a selection of five beauty treats that include niche, high-end, and emerging brands. Their global experts scour the latest trends to bring you beauty essentials, housed in reusable keepsake boxes.
TheGlossy Box Company definitely held up it's end of the bargain. I received 5 gorgeous products beautifully packaged in a "Glossy Box". Check out the mini-review on each product I receive. Nails Inc. Uptown Nail Polish Product Review
When I saw the Uptown Nails Inc, (beautiful Fall transitional) nail polish color in my Gloss Box I was so stinking excited. The product claim is to Smooth out any imperfections on the nail and that this highly pigmented formula utilizes a plumping agent to create a long-lasting, super glossy finish.
I give it a 2 out of 3 stars. The polish certainly is thick and will smooth out any imperfections, however, you still need two coats. This is where it gets Sticky, literally. Applying the second coat was really tough,as the polish was thickening up on the brush and it seemed like even in the bottle. It dried really quickly so that is a plus, however it chipped like crazy. The very next day I needed a touch up. I would use the product again, but would use a base coat and see if that helps the lasting power. I personally wouldn't pay $14.00 for this polish especially when I know they are releasing the Nails Inc GEL Polish version soon. Luxe Lip by Julep Product Reveiw
I really liked the Luxe Up Your Lips by Julep I received in my September 2015 Glossy Box. The product was right on time for the Southern IL Fall cool down. To help combat dryness, Julep has combined natural ingredients vitamin E and omega-rich pumpkin seed oil with a cooling metal tip applicator. The first ingredient listed is Castor oil, a plant based oil that really is the basis for a lot of lip glosses. It is the "natural" lubricant vs petroleum jelly that i s chemically produced.
The gloss is very shiny and the color wasn't highly pigmented. I had to mix/shake the tube to get any actually color on my lips. I use this as a means of hydration at night. As I have a very dry home from the gas furnace, I put a very small amount on my lips at night and in the morning I am smooth and fresh. However, the $24.00 price tag had me a little concerned in that I likely could get the same effect and better color pigmentation from another castor oil based lip gloss. Artist Colour Powder Blush By Emite Makeup
TheArtist Colour Powder Blush by Emite Makeup is by far my favorite product received in my September Glossy Box. This Mica based blush is a light reflecting peach pigmented powder blush that blends well and has the perfect amount of sparkle.
I love this product because it is extremely build-able. It doesn't easily brake apart causing way too much product to get on my brush. I can apply more an needed. I sure you have experienced getting too much blush product on a brush and not realizing it until after it is on your face... then comes the tissues to try to remove, now the blush is smudged... you know the story (UBBER FRUSTRED!). That will not happen with the Artist Colour Powder Blush. And BONUS, it has the slightest hint of shimmer to it so it doubles as a cheek bone highlighter. I have used other highly pigmented blushes that are build-able, but this shade is perfect for the transition from Summer to Fall. The $22.00 price is a bit steep, however, it is a great size and will last a while. GlamGlow YOUTHCLEANSE Daily Clearing Cleanser
The GlamGlow YouthCleanse Daily Cleanser came as a sample size in my Glossy Box. The sample sized lasted for about 3 weeks. The product claims to gently exfoliate, cleanse and renew skin to create a more youthful, glowing complexion. Stating that the YOUTHCLEANSE transforms from a luxurious mud into a gentle and effective foaming lather that dissolves makeup and impurities and removes dead surface cells.
The directions on the GlamGlow YOUTHCLEANSE Daily Clearing Cleanser say rub the solution vigorously with water and it will change into a foam lather. I never saw what I would call a lather. In my mind soap lathers, this product does not. However, the lack of the lather did not impede this product from being on my September glossy box favorites list. The tea tree only in this product leaves the skin feeling refreshed and the ingredient is ideal for my oily skin. The exfoliate is gentle but effective. Sometime face scrubs can be a bit harsh, however this one it not at all. It did a great job of breaking down my daily make up. The only thing I didn't love about the product is it was tough to rinse away. I would be wiping my neck hours after washing my face and still find bit of the exfoliant in the edges of my hair. This product is $39.00 for a full sized 5 oz bottle. I don't know that I would pay $39.00 for 5oz, at least not yet, I need to see exactly how Youthful my skin looks overtime. BIOSSANCE The Revitalizer
The BIOSSANCE The Revitalizer product has one ingredient with one purpose. This little gem is all about the KISS motto, your know Keep It Simple Silly. This light weight concentrate moisturizes the face, neck, and body and is ideal for all skin types and leaves skin feeling nourished and noticeably revitalized.
So what exactly is the single & most important ingredient in this product? Squalane! What is Squalane, it is a hydrocarbon sourced from the livers of sharks. It is not subject to auto-oxidation, and because of this squalane is a desirable ingredient for cosmetic applications where it is used as an emollient and moisturizer. I tried this product on my very oily skin and I must say it is amazing. Although it is an oil, it absorbs really quickly. My makeup application over this product was really smooth and the product didn't brake down as quickly. The full sized product is $58.00 / 1.7 FL oz and it would last for at least 12 months based how 2 daily applications of 3 drops. This product is worth the price and the hype for sure.
