If You Snack, Be Smart About It
Eating a small strategically nutrition snack between meals can keep your energy level up while also helping you avoid lows that often come after we eat something with too much sugar, fat, or salt. With most processed snacks, they are designed to give you a “fix”, like a drug. The resulting fall afterwards almost always leads to overeating, and increasing highs and lows in our energy levels. So the first step is to avoid overly processed items.
Choose Energy Bars Carefully
Energy bars are a great way to keep your energy level stable between meals but most are a little bit too processed to really be trusted. Look for bars that have whole grains as the first ingredients. Make sure the bar is sweetened only with whole fruit, not sugar or fruit juice. In other words, look at the ingredients and make sure you understand exactly what they are and that they are whole foods.
