Affordable Brow Gel: Product Review

Everyone knows it is all about the brow.  I spend no more than 20 minutes each morning putting on my makeup. Literally, at least 7 to 8 minutes of that time is spent on my brows. However, it has taken hours of practice and several types of products to consistently achieve a brow look that I love and lasts the entire day.      In this blog I share the affordable brow gels that I use to fill my brows.

Ardell Profressional: Dark Brown Brow Pomade 

The Ardell brow gel is my favorite of the 3 products that I am reviewing. It comes in 5 shades, but I selected the Dark Brown as my natural brows are black. It came with a dual purpose brush, spooly & angeld  brow brush for application.  This gel is dense and thick so very little goes a long way. The gel dries quickly on skin, but can we wiped away from brush bristles very easily. This gel can be purchased from Sally's Beauty Supply for $8-$10 (taxes vary based on your city). The only draw back is it does dry very quickly, so if you do mess up or are trying to buff out some of the denseness, it is hard to correct therefore, shaping/clean up time can be a little longer. I would recommend this product for more seasoned makeup users that are just looking for a better brow product vs someone still learning a brow technique. NYX Brow Gel : Brunette 

NYX Tinted Brow Mascara: Espresso

The brow gel by NYX is really nice. I love that it comes in SERVERAL different shades.  I chose the brunette shade because my beauty supply was out of the espresso shade.  This shade is slightly too gray for my hair color but I made it work. It was very smooth and had the consistency of an cream concealer, creamy but firm. The looser consistency allowed the gel to be placed very precisely, therefore it reduced the clean up time needed after the application. It dried quickly, but not too quick. The one thing I didn't love about this product is the wear time,. I am very  oily on my center forehead area, and this product broke down very quickly and my brows were shiny within a few hours, even with primer.  This products retails for nearly $10.00 and can be purchased on-line or at your Local Ulta Beauty.

I was very excited about this brow product. This  NYX Tinted Brow Mascara came in my favorite Shade of Espresso. I use the  NYX Espresso Micro Brow pencil and I love it! So, I was stoked to add this little guy to the collection. Indeed this product is like a mascara, it is great for holding those sparse hairs in place, but it is not build-able like a gel to fill in completely missing hairs.  Also, note, the shade NAME was not the same shade as the other NYX Espresso shades. This shade was lighter than I exected and I couldn't really make it work because it basically matched my skin tone. The product did stay in place and seemed to last on my brows all day, however the areas where there wasn't much hair to hold on to, the color faded throughout the day. The application was simple, but didn't allow for much precision for shaping. I would recommend this prodcut for someone that just needed to set thier brows after filling with a pencil. I dont' think it will cut it for filling out the brows all on its own. I picked this up from Ulta Beauty for about $7.00.
